George Town!

We left at about 9:00 AM EST and arrived in George Town, Grand Exuma, about 6.5 hours later! We were excited to find our friends on SV Atlas VII and drop anchor right next to them.

We had anchored just north of Cave Cay near an air strip and had a calm night. The sun rise in the morning was absolutely gorgeous! SV Alliance was anchored nearby and they snapped a few shots with Fika and sent it to us.

An awesome sunrise picture with Fika that a nearby cruiser took and sent to us.

After enjoying the sunrise, we completed one boat job: replacing the zinc anode. An anode is a sacrificial piece of material that attracts nearby electrolysis in the water, corroding itself so that our crucial equipment, like our propellor, stays intact longer.

After everyone had a nice swim in the crystal clear, turquoise water, we raised anchor and motored the entire way to George Town. There was no wind. This was an improvement from the constant winds that would have been against us, so we weren’t complaining!

We are finally heading to Grand Exuma, where George Town is located! For weeks, we’ve seen other families in our WhatsApp chat group talking about activities and events happening there. As this place has been described, it is the Mecca of family cruisers in the Bahamas.

When we arrived, we dropped anchor right next to our friends on SV Atlas VII 🇨🇦 who we hadn’t seen in ages. This also puts us near the Chat & Chill (a restaurant/bar and beach activity area), which we keep hearing about.

Time to find out what George Town is all about!
