Front-Row Seats to the SpaceX Starship Test Flight

One of the coolest things about cruising is that you never know what kind of surprise show you’re going to get. Sometimes it’s a pod of dolphins, sometimes it’s a stunning sunset, and sometimes—it’s a SpaceX launch!

Watching the debris was like fireworks across the sky!

We had absolute front-row seats to the 8th Starship megarocket test flight, and wow, was it a wild one. We watched as the rocket lifted off, a fiery streak climbing high into the sky. Then—boom—the whole thing exploded! Smoke and debris shot out like a giant firework display. A few moments later, we heard it, too—sonic booms rolling across the water, shaking the air around us.

Watching the debris fly across the sky from our anchorage at Sand Dollar Beach by George Town, Grand Exuma.

We heard later that the booster landing was a success, which made it even cooler to witness. Seeing history in the making from the deck of Fika? Definitely not something we expected when we woke up that morning, but cruising life is full of surprises.
