A Literary Haven in St. Michaels

During our boating adventure in St. Michaels, Maryland, we stumbled upon a gem known as the Talbot County Free Library. As cruisers exploring the area, we enjoyed the library's warm and welcoming atmosphere, inviting us to step inside and explore its literary wonders.

The library we found in St Michaels!

Inside the library, we were greeted by friendly librarians who shared a genuine passion for reading and a wealth of knowledge. Although our visit was brief, we cherished the opportunity to engage with the librarians and learn about the various programs they offered.

One program that caught our attention was the "Read with a Therapy Dog" sessions, which provided readers a calming and comforting experience. Additionally, we discovered that the library housed a 3D printer, sparking our curiosity about the innovative projects happening within its walls.

As we ventured further into the town, we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon a charming sight—a Little Free Library designed in the likeness of the Hooper Straight Lighthouse, a beautiful screw-pile lighthouse showcased at the Chesapeake Maritime Museum. Similar to the iconic Thomas Point Lighthouse (the only screw-pile lighthouse in the bay still standing at its original site), this miniature lighthouse stood proudly along a fence, inviting passersby to explore its literary treasures and share their own books in return.

Whether you're a local resident searching for literary delights or an adventurous traveler like us, the Talbot County Free Library is a haven worth discovering. Step inside, immerse yourself in the world of books and embrace the wonders that await within its pages. And as you explore the streets of St. Michaels, keep an eye out for the enchanting Little Free Lighthouse, a whimsical reminder of the magic that awaits when we open a book.
